Petronas commenced its Pesta Kaamatan and Gawai festive campaign with the launch of a specially produced web film titled "Renai" on May 26th.
Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) commenced Pesta Kaamatan and Pesta Gawai festive campaign with Renai, a web film produced to celebrate the padi spirits for the bounteous harvest.
Set in the jungle of Sarawak against the scenic view of Mount Kinabalu in neighbouring Sabah, the film is named after its main character called Renai, said Petronas in a statement.
Renai is an inspiring story of her growing up and how she appreciates and values the struggles and sacrifices made by her parents to ensure a brighter future for her.
This story of gratitude and hope encapsulates the true spirit of the Kaamatan and Gawai festivals, which celebrate the fruits of hard labour and determination invested each year into delivering a bountiful harvest.
Petronas’ Senior General Manager of Group Strategic Communications, Zahariah Abd Rahman said, “for the past two decades, Petronas has been bringing Malaysians together through our festive communications.
“With our latest web film, we hope to not only capture the rich and unique essence of the harvest festivals in Sabah and Sarawak, but what this tradition and the festivals mean to all Malaysians.”
Zahariah added, Petronas draws inspiration as many Malaysians have interesting stories to tell.
“The story of Renai reflects our nation’s diversity as a true melting pot of cultures, and the social cohesion among Malaysians.”
Viewers will be able to watch this web film starting from 26 May on Petronas’ official channel, www.petronasofficial.com.
A 60-second television commercial version of the web film started airing on May 29.
A series of exciting on-ground activities will take place during the annual rice harvest celebration.
