Mr Os, whose full name is Mohd Yusof Abdul Hamid, was admitted to the hospital on Monday after having breathing complications due to his illness.
Born in Kuala Kangsar, Perak the actor started his career after he starred in comedy, Balik Kampung. Merely a year later, Mr Os was offered to play the starring role in Mr Os, a comedy starring Ziela Jalil and Salih Yaacob.
The award-winning actor was named the Best Comedian at the Malaysian Film Festival for his memorable performance in Mr.Os (1987) and Ghazal Untuk Rabiah in 1997.
He took a break from acting to pursue a profession as taxi driver but the acting bug led him to the film industry in 2009 with Apa Ke Halnya?, a TV series aired on TV9.
According to his son, Mohd Azwan Mohd Yusof, his father was conscious when he was in the hospital.
Mr Os is best remembered for several comedic roles including Balik Kampung, Keluarga 99, Adik, O.K (Orang Kampung Otak Kimia) and Kembar Siam.
In recent years, Mr Os was featured in reality show, Maharaja Lawak Mega 2011 with comedian Abon and collectively known as Osbon. The duo emerged champion and bagged a whopping RM350,000.
Mr Os was scheduled to appear alongside Ustaz Azhar Idrus for a programme in Teluk Pasu, Kuala Terengganu tonight.
His body will be brought to the Al-Muhajirin Mosque in Kampung Sri Gombak, Batu Caves for the final rites.
Sombre ambience was evident as family members, relatives and friends attended the funeral at Bukit Permata Muslim burial ground in Taman Sri Gombak at 6.30pm today.
Actor and comedian, Farouk Hussein when met by Astro AWANI said he is shocked to hear about Mr Os' demise.
"I'm upset that I have lost a friend from the industry," said Farouk.
Mr Os was survived by two wives and seven children.
