Popular reality television show ‘America’s Next Top Model’ (ANTM) will end after 22 seasons - also known as 'Cycles'.
The show’s host, judge and executive producer Tyra Banks made the announcement on Instagram.
She started her message with the words ‘Tyra Mail’ – her trademark when she makes any sort of announcements regarding the reality show.
“Tyra Mail! Thinking ANTM Cycle 22 should be our last cycle. Yeah, I truly believe it’s time. I am so proud of what Top Model has done.
“ANTM brought the intimidating modeling world to the masses. We were the first reality show based in the fashion world. I never thought my little idea would have people everywhere thinking differently about how they take photos. And I never thought we would do 22 cycles,” she writes on Instagram.
She also thanked the viewers, asking them to accept their imperfections and hoping they have learned something from the show.
Fans of the show were sad upon hearing the announcement, saying that the show has redefined the term ‘beauty’.
“You taught me that beauty is not perfect. You helped me to accept myself the way I am. I learned to love my flaws, because that makes me different and unique,” said Instagram user @enith07.
Another Instagram user, @smilesnancy, also said she has learned so much from the show.
“My daughter and I watch together and I love that it showed her what beauty really is. Beauty is to love yourself and all the imperfections too,” she said.
Meanwhile on Twitter, some netizens created some meme:
ANTM made its debut in 2003 and lasted for 12 years and 22 cycles.
It is among the top-rated programmes on the UPN and CW television network in the United States.
Apart from US, the show has also expanded its reach with local editions in various countires including Australia, Germany, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, United Kingdom and Vietnam.
Malaysian model Sheena Liam won the second season of Asia’s Next Top Model in 2014.
