The Canadian actor is set to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in the forthcoming feature on the life of Steve Jobs, who will be played by Christian Bale.
The two Steves met in the early 1970s and quickly struck up a friendship over their shared interest in electronics. Six years later, they co-founded Apple. Wozniak worked at the company full-time until 1987, holding the titles of vice president and director of research and development, among others.
The two actors could be joined by Jessica Chastain, who is courted for an unspecified role.
Currently untitled, the Jobs biopic will be directed by Danny Boyle, who earned the Oscar for best director in 2009 for "Slumdog Millionaire." The script, based on Walter Isaacson's official biography "Steve Jobs," is by Aaron Sorkin, the screenwriter behind "The Social Network," about Mark Zuckerberg and the Facebook story.
The project will arrive in theaters just a few years after "Jobs," the 2013 biopic about the late tech guru, which starred Ashton Kutcher in the title role and Josh Gad as Woz.
