The police have recovered a stolen Nissan Fairlady, which was the grand prize in the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian, held on Sunday.
The sports car, which was reported missing at a service centre in Segambut here on Saturday, was found at a roadside in Taman Skudai, Johor early today, said Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh.
He said the car was believed to have been stolen by a fugitive car thief who had allegedly driven away three luxury cars from showrooms in Jalan Chan Sow Lin and Bukit Bintang.
The police are looking for Mohd Azri Mohd Kassim, 32, to help in the investigations into the theft.
Mohmad said a CCTV footage showed a suspect, who was carrying a file, droving away the Nissan Fairlady with the keys inside from the Segambut service centre.
He said the suspect, who was charged in court for car thefts and released on a RM15,000 bail, failed to appear in court and was still at large.
Mohmad said the police believed the Nissan Fairlady, which was won by actor Shaheizy Sam, had been sold to a middleman for RM30,000 before being resold to another buyer when it was found with a false registration number.
The suspect had allegedly stole a Porsche Panamera in Jalan Bukit Bintang in October last year, and an Audi TT and a Volkswagen Golf GTI in Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Cheras in January.
