Sofia Jane wins best actor award at BOH Arts Awards

Popular actress Sofia Jane won the award for best actor in a leading role at the 11th BOH Cameronians Arts Awards which took place last night.
Sofia took the award for her role as Bulan ini a monologue entitled Laut Lebih Indah Dari Bulan in Teater Kompilasi directed by Nam Ron.
The Hanyut actress beat multiple award-winning actress Sharifah Amani from the same play and actor Izzue Islam from Maduku Kalut.
From the same play, actor Aqasha who made his stage debut won the best actor in a supporting role category beating Vanidah Imran.
Both took home a trophy presented by Fatimah Abu Bakar and Melissa Saila.
However, the director of Teater Kompilasi Nam Ron lost in all three categories he was nominated in including Best Original Script and Best director to Fasyali Fadzly from Teater Juta Juta.
The BOH Cameronian Awards is organised by BOH Plantations and Kakiseni, taking audiences back in time to the 60’s at Stadium Negara.
The event also paid tribute to past legends such as Allahyarham Tan Sri P. Ramlee, theatre doyen the late Datuk Krishen Jit and Malaysian National Laureate Allahyarham Datuk Dr. Usman Awang.
It was graced by Datuk Norliza Rofli Director-General, National Department for Culture and Arts under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia; Caroline Russell, CEO of BOH Plantations, Malaysia’s performing artists, celebrities, the media and the public.
Guests were also treated for a special performance by Fatimah Abu Bakar and Melissa Saila who performed an interpretive poetry song inspired by Usman Awang and P. Ramlee.
The event was hosted by comedienne Shelah (Edwin Sumun) and Harith Iskander.
The 11th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards Gala Night was directed by Ida Nerina.
