Live long and prosper as Star Trek Day kicks off today (8 September 2020) globally.
This three-hour virtual event brings together the franchise and the global community well-known especially for its ‘live long and prosper’ iconic Vulcan salute among others to celebrate 54 glorious years of the science fiction television show created by Gene Roddenberry.
Star Trek debuted on 8 September 1966 on NBC in the United States of America and has since become a global phenomenon.
The show’s progressive messages of hope and inclusivity which was way ahead of its time captured many hearts and earned a loyal fan base although they, the fandom may not always agree with how the show has evolved or changed since, it’s still in the spirit of the show.
Even today, with growing conflicts around the world, the spirit and the value of the futuristic show promises a hope for a better future for humankind, where people can put aside their differences, come and work together with anyone from all walks of life (including alien beings and with different interplanetary species).
Fans will be treated to an exclusive line-up of panel sessions with the cast, crew and creatives from the nine Star Trek shows with exclusive insights and news from the Star Trek universe.
The first panel session (September 8, 2020, 12.00pm PDT) begins with the cast and writers of Star Trek: Discovery, which featured Malaysia’s own Michelle Yeoh as Captain Phillipa Georgiou and Emperor Georgiou. The third season of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on October 15 and fans can definitely expect some information about this show ahead of the premiere.
