The next Avengers film could see Captain America orchestrate a shakeup, if script rumors are to be believed, with Ms. Marvel's future yet to be decided.
The Avengers line-up has never been terribly fixed, just as the Sinister Six was subject to a fluctuating cast, and Badass Digest cites an earlier draft of Joss Whedon's script in predicting the swap out.
The creation of a new team, thought to occur at the very end of the May 2015's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," would pave the way for a third wave of blockbuster movies.
By and large, names were not mentioned: the one new face divulged was that of Ms. Marvel -- because Marvel Studios "basically aren't certain they want to just drop her into the [Marvel Cinematic Universe] fully formed in a team movie."
Regardless of timing, it's felt that Ms. Marvel would be given her own feature, either as a solo character (as with Captain America, Iron Man et al.) or as part of a smaller team gig (see this year's "Guardians of the Galaxy") before the third planned Avengers movie.
So who is she? According to comic book history, the name has been an alterego for four different women since 1968, starting with Carol Danvers, a fair-skinned blonde imbued with almost unstoppable alien powers.
Since November 2013, though, the Ms. Marvel name has been taken on by Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teen of Pakistani heritage, who grew up in the shadow of Manhattan in New Jersey's Jersey City.
"I don't actually know whether they shot this ending scene yet or if they're holding it for reshoots. It might be too late to convince Marvel to include Captain Marvel in Age of Ultron," concludes BD's Devin Faraci.
The year after "Avengers: Age of Ultron" sees Gal Gadot make her debut as Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" as DC builds its own competing franchise. She'll then go on to star in her own feature and a Justice Leage ensemble piece -- Ms. Marvel could see the Disney studio get there first.
