Come June 21, the musical theatre, 'MUD: The Story of Kuala Lumpur Since 1857' will celebrate its second anniversary.
Unlike the original performance directed by Amsalan Doraisingam, the third version will be directed by Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina as president of Enfiniti Vision Media which had succeeded in putting on the show since 2014, with the cooperation of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
According to Tiara, the staging of the latest version would feature a more multi-racial community background in the country to depict the historical moments and changes in Kuala Lumpur to its present form.
In fact, she said there would also be several fast-paced and energetic songs to blend with the traditional sounds and a humourous script to entertain patrons with a lively performance at DBKL City Theatre.
"The content of the latest version will portray the experience of the residents with the changes and major incidents in Kuala Lumpur such as the big floods and fires.
"Not many Kuala Lumpur folks are aware of these incidents and this is to give the people a better historical perpective of Kuala Lumpur before it became a vibrant city today," she said after being interviewed in Bernama Today here on Thursday.
She said the staging this time would give more opportunities for the audience to feel the experience, as part of the people of Kuala Lumpur, with more mingling of patrons with performers on stage.
"We will bring patrons, especially foreign tourists, to go on stage to cook and sample the food served. It will definitely be a sweet experience for them when they return home," said Tiara who took nine months to research the history of Kuala Lumpur before coming up with the show.
She also called on children and youngsters in Kuala Lumpur to learn about the history of Kuala Lumpur from watching the musical.
Since it was staged in 2014, more than 1,200 performances were held and more than 30,000 spectators, including local and foreign tourists, had seen the story of MUD, The Musical.
A total of 38 performers and production staff were involved in staging the one-hour musical with daily performances at 3pm and 8.30pm.
