Another addition for theme park lovers

Legoland Malaysia was declared open by the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ismail at Nusajaya in Johor last night - the first international theme park in Malaysia.

Among the other theme parks in the nation include;

Sunway Lagoon , Selangor

Opened in 1993, Sunway Lagoon offers five different experiences: water park, scream park, amusement park, extreme park and wildlife park. It is also home to some of the hottest regional events like MTV World Stage and concerts by Backstreet Boys, Pussycat Dolls, Westlife and many more.

Cosmo’s World Indoor Theme Park, Kuala Lumpur

Located on the 5th to 8th floor of Berjaya Times Square KL, it has been dubbed as the largest indoor theme park in Asia. There are 14 rides and divided into two different themed areas: Galaxy Station (for adults and children over 13) and Fantasy Garden (for kids and families). The main attraction is the roller coaster ride, one of the biggest indoor roller coasters in the world.

Genting Highlands, Pahang

There are three theme parks which are: Genting Outdoor Theme Park, First World Indoor Theme Park and Water Park. There are more than 40 rides including Flying Coaster, Genting Sky Venture and Haunted House.

Bukit Merah Laketown Resort, Perak

The Bukit Merah Laketown Resort has three theme parks. The Orang Utan Island serves as a breeding group and as well for research and education purposes. The 3-acre Ecopark houses more than 40 species of birds, repties and mammals within a walk-in enclosure. The 11-acre Waterpark offers Malaysia’s first Giant Wet Bubble and Bommerang fun-slide.

A’Famosa Resort, Malacca

Located in Malacca and opened in 1996, it is home to several theme parks. The Water World was the first to be constructed, followed by the Animal World Safari, one of the first of its kind in Malaysia back then. The Cowboy Town made its debut in 2002.

Extreme Park Sunway City Ipoh, Perak

Malaysia’s first and only theme park dedicated to motorise and non-motorise extreme sports. Some of the facilities include Go-Karting, All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), Paintball, International Rubberised Badminton Court and Futsal Pitch. There’s also a golf driving range and an academy.
