Aznil is icon for SBJK

TV host and popular personality, Datuk Aznil Nawawi was today officially appointed as Sekolah Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih (SBJK) Icon by the Education Ministry.

The appointment was made after taking into account his role and contributions in reaching out to society and giving attention to less fortunate children.

Education director-general Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said all the sweeter, the appointment was agreed upon by Aznil after the children-friendly personality offered to contribute back to the school which was early institution for formal education.

"His success, popularity and loving attitude towards chldren and desire to help SBJK pupils to obtain a better education are the best examples to others to emulate and come forward and help SBJK pupils obtain better education.

"The ministry also hopes the appointment can help the school in terms of skills, collecting funds and attracting contributions for the continuity of the school," he said at a ceremony to hand over the appointment certificate here on Thursday. -- Bernama
