Backstreet Boys and NSync founder dies in prison
Pearlman was responsible for bringing the boy band craze, founding some of the biggest acts in the world.
LOU Pearlman, the man who founded boy bands such as Backstreet Boys and NSync, died in prison on Friday.
Entertainment portals reported that data retrieved from the Federal Bureau of Prisons showed the cause of death has not yet been determined.
Pearlman, whose real name was Louis Jay Pearlman, had been serving a prison sentence since 2008.
The music mogul, 62, was sentenced to a 25-year jail term after being exposed that he was running a fraud scheme – the Ponzi Scheme – which involved 1,700 investors with close to half a billion dollars worth of investments.
Not only that, he was once in a lawsuit, allegedly for misappropriating the money that was made by both Backstreet Boys and NSync.
Pearlman was responsible for bringing the boy band craze, founding some of the biggest acts in the world, including O-Town and LFO, to name a few.
