Daft Punk signs with Columbia, new record on the horizon
Music magazine NME is reporting that French electro-duo Daft Punk has left Virgin/EMI to sign a deal with Sony's label Columbia. A new album is also reportedly in the works.
According to the report, Daft Punk, which consists of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, left the label they first signed to in 1996 in favor of Sony's Columbia; the duo are also rumored to be following up their most recent release, 2010's soundtrack for the "Tron: Legacy," with a new album this spring.
NME also reports that Panda Bear, from psych group Animal Collective, and Chilly Gonzales, who recently collaborated with Feist, are thought to have collaborated with Daft Punk on their forthcoming LP.
