Gary Barlow honoured with Music Industry Trusts Award
Gary Barlow says he's "flattered" to receive the 21st Music Industry Trusts Award in recognition of his work with British music and charities.
The musician, songwriter and producer -- who also serves as a judge on the U.K. version of "The X Factor" -- was honored in London Monday at a charity dinner in aid of charities Nordoff Robbins and the BRIT Trust.
Barlow, perhaps best known as a member of the band Take That, said receiving the award is "amazing" but added, "I've visited the schools that are benefiting from tonight and they're incredible places and they need help and they need funding, so that's the real reason we're here."
Over the years the Music Industry Trusts has raised more than £4 million (RM19.59 million) for its chosen charities.
Past recipients of the award include Sir George Martin, Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, John Barry, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Tom Jones and Kylie Minogue.
