HISTORY is repeating itself with the Ghostbuster franchise, with Sony Pictures planning an animated TV spin-off.
In addition to the highly anticipated, all-female version of "Ghostbusters" due to hit theatres next month, Sony Pictures is planning an animated TV series that will focus on a new generation of Ghostbusters in the year 2050 called "Ghostbuster: Ecto Force."
The show is set to debut in 2018.
It's a recipe that follows in the original success of the Ghostbusters franchise when the hit movie spawned the animated TV show "The Real Ghostbusters" in the 1980s.
In other animated news, Sony is also planning an animated Spider-Man series set to debut Dec. 21, 2018 and an animated show for "Hotel Transylvania."
