Hip-hop star ILoveMakonnen punched in NY concert

Hip-hop artist ILoveMakonnen has won a following with his hit song "Tuesday" about weekday partying but one Tuesday got out of control when a concert-goer punched him.

The Atlanta rapper tweeted a video of himself performing his song -- on Tuesday -- at a club in New York when a seeming well-wisher reached for his hand and then pulled ILoveMakonnen to the ground and punched him.

Security quickly intervened and ILoveMakonnen's group kept performing as the rapper recovered in time to sing the bass-driven chorus, "Got the club going up on a Tuesday / Got your girl in the cut and she choosey."

The rapper, whose real name is Makonnen Sheran, seemed to take the attack in stride on Twitter, writing: "The hate real but the love realer and stronger."

ILoveMakonnen released a self-titled EP in July which became a surprise success after superstar Drake declared himself a fan and collaborated with him.
