Johan Nawawi's remains laid to rest

The late Johan Nawawi, 52 was laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery in Petaling Jaya at 3.20pm today.
Earlier his remains were brought from his residence to the Ar-Rahman Mosque in Bukit Tunku here for the final rites.
About 1,000 people comprising family members, relatives and friends were present at the mosque and cemetery.
Johan, whose wife is singer Nora Ariffin, died due to heart complications at the Ramsay Sime Darby Medical Centre in Subang Jaya at approximately 6.30am, Friday morning after he was admitted to the medical centre late Thursday evening.
He is survived by wife, Nora and four children.
Nora when met by Astro AWANI after the funeral said that her husband was admitted to the medical centre after his body temperature rose.
"At the clinic, doctor adviced him to go to the hospital but he insisted on going home," she said, adding that when they reached home, Nora tried persuading him to go to the hospital.
"Eventually, he relented. We went to the hospital and the doctor confirmed that his heart was in a good condition except that his white blood cell count was high.

According to Nora, she went home at 2am and received a call from the hospital about three hours later.
"I am just grateful that I managed to kiss him before leaving," said a distraught Nora.
Composer-singer Datuk M.Nasir said Johan's passing is a great loss to the industry.
"He was kind, friendly, hardworking and creative. He played an integral role in my career," said M.Nasir.
"He was my good friend and although he worked behind the scenes, his loss is greatly felt as he was very active," he added.
During his career spanning over three decades, Johan has worked with many A-list Malaysian singers including Datuk Sheila Majid,
Johan had penned several notable tunes for his wife including 'Satu', 'Desa Tercinta', 'Naluri' and 'Samudera'.
He also composed 'Erti Al-Fatihah', the Islamic tune popularised by his daughters from 'Voices of Ummi'.
