'Jurassic World' coming to theaters in 2015

The fourth installment in the dinosaur-themed adventure film series will be released in 3D on June 12, 2015 in North American theaters, Universal Pictures has announced.

Previously known simply as "Jurassic Park 4," the next film in the franchise based on Michael Crichton's novels now has a title and an official launch date. As announced by the American media last June, "Jurassic World" will arrive a year later than initially planned.

The fourth installment in the saga will be filmed in 3D by director Colin Trevorrow ("Safety Not Guaranteed"), who is also contributing to the screenplay alongside Derek Connolly. Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two "Jurassic Park" films in 1993 and 1997, will provide his support as a producer on the project.
