Local film '3Genius' set to hit Indian cinemas
A bilingual science fiction film, 3Genius, produced by a local company, is set to hit 160 cinemas in India this April.
Deputy Information, Communication and Culture Minister Senator Datuk Maglin Dennis D'Cruz said the movie will be shown during school holidays in the country.
"This is good progress as it is not easy for a local film to get the opportunity to be shown in India," he told reporters after launching the film produced by On Track Animation Sdn Bhd, here this evening.
Maglin said he will help promote the Malay and Tamil language movie during his working visit to India on Jan 23.
"The government continues to support efforts to improve the national film industry. Besides that, efforts to promote local Tamil films abroad also hopes to encourage local producers to come up with more of such films," he said.
Meanwhile, On Track Animation Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer G.Punniamoorthy said the film costing RM1.9 million will begin shooting this month.
"This movie is about the relationship and career of three friends with three different backgrounds, giving the audience a feel of our multi-cultural community in Malaysia.
"Besides science fiction, 3Genius contains elements of action and comedy," he said.
He added that there are plans to show the film in other countries including Sri Lanka.
