Robert Redford and Jason Segel cast in sci-fi romance

"THE Discovery," which starts shooting this month, is set in a world where the afterlife is real.

The film, directed and co-written by Charlie McDowell, has been in development for some time and Roony Mara is already cast as the female lead.

It is understood that Segel will play Mara's love interest and that the story will revolve around the implications of a tragedy-tinged relationship when it has been scientifically proven that death is not the end.

News of Redford's and Segel's casting was first reported by local publication What's Up Newport in Rhode Island, where filming is about to commence.
