Rozana admits using Awie's money to buy luxury items
Rozana, however, told the court she did not hand over the money from the sale of the items to Awie as promised.
Rock star Awie's wife, Rozana Misbun, told the Ampang Magistrate's Court here Friday that she used her husband's saving to buy luxury items, like bags, shoes and jewellery.
However, she said, she had agreed to sell all the items to pay back Awie's money in a saving account at Alliance Bank which was under her name.
"I agreed to return Awie's money in two weeks from the day he hit me," she said when cross-examined by defence counsel Hazman Harun, representing the singer.
Rozana, however, told the court she did not hand over the money from the sale of the items to Awie as promised.
She also told the court that she had been keeping Awie's money in her Alliance Bank account for the past few years because her husband, whose real name is Azhar Othman, 47, had been declared a bankrupt.
She said after the incident on June 2 last year, the day Awie allegedly hit her, Awie forced her to withdraw all the money.
"I withdrew all the savings in the Alliance Bank account, which was RM30,000, at the counter," she added.
She did not agree with Hazman who said that what was left of Awie's money in her Amanah Saham Berhad (ASB) account was only RM230.
Rozana said this when testifying against Awie, who is facing a charge of voluntarily causing hurt on her at a house in Taman Ukay Bistari, Ukay Perdana, Hulu Kelang at 1.30 pm on June 2 last year.
On a police report lodged on June 17 last year, Rozana said she lodged the report after referring to a doctor on her injury.
She denied that the report was lodged to cover up her failure to pay back Awie's money.
The hearing before Magistrate Ayuni Izzati Sulaiman continues on July 6.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Goh Ai Rene.
