Star Wars: Production company to be taken to court over Harrison Ford's broken leg
HSE will take to court Star Wars: The Force Awakens's production company over Harrison Ford's broken leg incident.
Britain's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said it will taking to court the production company behind "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" over an accident that left star Harrison Ford with a broken leg.
The incident took place in June, 2014 at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England.
British workplace safety authorities said it was prosecuting Foodles Production (UK) Ltd. over four alleged breaches of health and safety law, CNN reported today.
In the incident, Ford who was then 71, sustained serious injuries when a heavy hydraulic door hit him.
"By law, employers must take reasonable steps to protect workers -- this is as true on a film set as a factory floor," HSE said in a statement to CNN.
"We have investigated thoroughly and believe that we have sufficient evidence to bring the case to court," the statement read.
HSE said Foodles was responsible under British health and safety law for managing risks involved in the production.
Foodles representatives will appear on May 12 in a court in Buckinghamshire to face the four charges, CNN said.
