The popular movie franchise is on its way to becoming an action comedy series executive produced by Bill Lawrence, creator of "Scrubs" and "Cougar Town," and by Brett Ratner, who directed the three "Rush Hour" features.
The one-hour series is expected to reprise the premise of the original 1998 movie: a cocky and reckless Los Angeles cop is forced to partner with a by-the-books Hong Kong police inspector. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan played the two roles respectively in the three "Rush Hour" movies released between 1998 and 2007.
Written by Lawrence and by "Cougar Town" executive producer Blake McCormick for Warner Bros TV, the potential "Rush Hour" series will begin searching for its home network in the near future, according to Deadline.
