Worldwide box office: the reign of the 'The Hobbit' continues

The latest installment in Peter Jackson's trilogy took in $74.4 million during its fourth weekend in theaters, bringing its cumulative revenues to $700 million.
A distant second is "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb," Shawn Levy's third film starring Ben Stiller as the security guard at a museum where the displays come to life after hours. The feature earned $40.45 million over the period.
"Exodus: Gods and Kings" claimed third place with $35.2 million, bringing its worldwide cumulative revenues past the $200 million mark.
Next in the ranking are two animated films, "Penguins of Madagascar" and "Big Hero 6." Boosted by the holiday period, the family-friendly movies grossed $25.8 million and $25 million respectively this weekend.
In sixth place, Tsui Hark's "The Taking of Tiger Mountain" earned $23.7 million. The Chinese adventure movie is followed by Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken" ($20.6 million) and by "The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death" ($18.6 million).
"Seventh Son" rounds out the global box office top ten with $18.6 million in revenues.
