Floods: RM15.3m allocation to repair damaged police properties

PDRM director of management Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said some police stations and beat bases in Kelantan had yet to return to operations because they were severely damaged in the flood disaster.

"In Kelantan, there was much damage to our assets like building facilities, beat bases, vehicles, computers and office equipment. We are urgently addressing this matter so that the stations affected can get back on track," he told reporters after handing over schooling aid to children of police personnel affected by floods in Terengganu, at Mesra Mall here today.

Also present was Terengganu police chief Datuk Jamshah Mustapa.

On another matter, Mohamad Fuzi said all welfare associations in PDRM, representing civilian staff, officers and the rank and file, had agreed to salary deductions to assist their brethren who were affected by the floods.

He added that the deductions, from as low as RM5 to as high as RM100, involved 126,000 personnel in the force, right up to Inspector-General of Police.

Later when when handing over similar aid in Kota Baharu, Mohamad Fuzi said PRDM had also allocated RM1.5 million to assist 1,575 police personnel who were affected by the floods.

He said cash aid of between RM500 and RM1,500 would be extended to them soon.
