Floods: Situation better in Peninsula, unchanged in Sabah

The flood situation in Pahang, Kelantan, Perak and Johor is getting better but there was no change in the number of flood evacuees in Sabah as at 10pm today.

The number of flood evacuees in PAHANG dropped slightly to 31,921 people as compared to 33,342 people this evening.

According to the Pahang police headquarters, Temerloh had the most number of evacuees at 12,748 people followed by Pekan (11,124), Maran (2,769), Bera (2,389), Jerantut (1,732), Kuantan (1,128) and Lipis (31).

In KELANTAN, the number of evacuees dropped by 2,541 people to 6,141 people tonight as compared to 8,682 in the evening.

According to a National Security Council (MKN) spokesman, the evacuees, from 1,387 families, are being sheltered in 49 relief centres in four districts.

Kuala Krai has the most with 2,627 evacuees, Gua Musang (2,154), Tanah Merah (1,106) and Machang (254).

The same was reported in PERAK with the number of evacuees dropping to 5,793 (1,628 famlies) as compared to 6,067 (1,675 families) in the evening.

An MKN spokesman said they are at 38 relief centres in five districts with Perak Tengah having 4,555 victims, Hulu Perak (610), Hilir Perak (300), Kuala Kangsar (168) and Manjung (160).

So too in JOHOR, which only has 20 evacuees now from 28 earlier. They are at one relief centre in Segamat.

In SABAH, the number of evacuees still stands at 50 from 23 families who are at a shelter in Pitas.
