The Malaysian Girl Guides Association will channel RM7 million worth of aid to flood victims, especially children and students.
Its president, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said the aid comprised RM3 million from the Global Children's Wellbeing Fund and donations from corporate bodies.
"The Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has also donated 15,000 pairs of new clothes for children aged between one and five years in the flood-hit states," she told a press conference here today.
Rosmah, who is Prime Minister's wife, said some of the money would also be used to set up reading rooms with chairs, tables, fans and reading materials at the temporary settlement for the flood victims, especially in Kelantan.
"We will also provide stationery items, exercise books and geometry sets to students, teachers and school support staff," she said.
Rosmah said the association would also provide three bus that would function as mobile clinics to Kelantan, with staff who would provide free health examination to flood victims in the state.
She said members of the association, along with members of Malaysian Scouting Association, would go to the flood-affected states to present the aid starting Thursday.
Rosmah said they would also work closely with the National Security Council to identify areas and victims that needed aid and assistance.
"Our target groups are children, students, teachers and school staff," she added.
