More evacuees return home in Pahang, Perak, Kelantan

More flood victims have returned to their homes in Pahang, Perak and Kelantan following the improving trend in the flood situation in the three states.

Overall the total number of flood evacuees in the three states dropped to 31,800 people this morning as compared to 34,240 people last night.

However, there was no change in the situation in JOHOR with 20 evacuees still sheltered at Balai Raya Kampung Batu Badak, Segamat.

In PAHANG, the situation further improved with the number of evacuees dropping to 21,471 people as compared to 22,896 people last night. They are being housed at 106 relief centres.

A Pahang police headquarters spokesman said Pekan still had the most evacuees at 11,154 people followed by Temerloh (4,662), Maran (2,779), Kuantan (1,130), Bera (1,091) and Jerantut (655).

With the weather improving in PERAK, the number of evacuees also dipped, to 5,545 people from 1,562 families as compared to 5,742 people from 1,598 families last night.

A National Security Council (MKN) spokesman said they are at 32 relief centres with Perak Tengah having the highest number at 4,409 people, followed by Hulu Perak (606), Hilir Perak (304), Manjung (150) and Kuala Kangsar (76).

In KELANTAN, a Welfare Department spokesman said 4,784 eavcuees were still at shelters in four districts this morning compared to 5,602 last night.

Kuala Krai still had 2,522 evacuees, Gua Musang (1,681), Tanah Merah (387) and Machang (194).
