More victims evacuated as flood situation reaches critical level

The flood situation in several states has reached a critical level as the number of people evacuated increased to 67,738 tonight compared with 65,419 this evening.
In KELANTAN, the number of flood victims increased to 27,153 tonight compared with 26,547 people in the evening, involving 8,256 families who are stationed at 138 flood relief centres.
The flood victims are from nine districts, comprising Gua Musang, Jeli, Kota Baharu, Kuala Krai, Machang, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh, Tanah Merah, Tumpat and Kota Baharu.
The district worst affected is Gua Musang with 7,386 evacuees at 18 flood relief centres, followed by Pasir Mas with 6,663 people at 22 evacuation centres while Tumpat involved 4,432 people.
The number of victims in Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai remained the same with 602 and 4,864 respectively, tonight.
In TERENGGANU, there is not much change in the flood situation with a slight increase in the number of victims, from 22,372 in the evening to 22,808 tonight.
According to the Terengganu National Security Council portal, Kemaman recorded the highest number of evacuees with 13,492, Dungun (5,022), Kuala Terengganu (3,108), Hulu Terengganu (637), Besut (390), Marang (115) and Setiu (44).
In PAHANG, the number of people who were forced to evacuate increased by 1,282 to 15,944 people from (4,015 families) compared with 14,662 from 3,810 families in the evening.
A spokesman at the Pahang police flood operations room said Kuantan still recorded the highest number of flood victims, totalling 10,485 people from 2,808 families at 38 evacuation centres.
"In Maran (38 people from 9 families at one centre), Lipis (1,912 people from 418 families at 26 centres), Jerantut (1,906 people from 413 families at 42 centres), Pekan (774 people from 185 families at 11 centres), Temerloh (468 people at 10 centres), Rompin (268 people at 4 centres) and Bera (93 people at 3
centres).
In PERAK, the number of districts affected by flood increased to three as Perak Tengah joined Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar on the list but the overall number of flood victims dropped from 1,650 people to 1,580 people at night.
A spokesman at the Perak National Security Council's flood operations room said 25 victims were evacuated from Belanja to two relief centres Hulu Perak recorded a drop from 359 to 352 while the number in Kuala Kangsar dropped from 1,291 to 1,203 evacuees.
In PERLIS, the number of people evacuated increased to 253 tonight compared with 188 in the evening and placed at five flood relief centres.
According to the Perlis National Security Council, the evacuees are from 71 families and they are being accommodated at the relief centres at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Beseri, Dewan Malau, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Abi, Dewan Beseri Dalam and Dewan Sri Pilihan.
