No agents appointed to disburse flood aid - NSC
The NSC had also installed 70 tents in Orang Asli villages in the interior, he added.
Flood victims in Kelantan are advised to dismiss parties claiming to be National Security Council (NSC) agents entrusted to manage payment of the RM500 compassionate aid.
Its secretary Datuk Mohamed Thajudeen Abdul Wahab said the NSC would directly distribute the aid to the households that had registered.
"The parties concerned probably have an ulterior motive; the NSC has never appointed any agent to manage the payment of the compassionate aid," he told reporters at the temporary shelter at Bandar Utama, here Tuesday.
He said the Federal Government allocated RM500 million specifically for victims in flood-affected states to help lighten their burden and start life anew.
Mohamed Thajudeen also refuted claims that the NSC only focused on temporary relief centres in towns and ignoring those in the interior.
He said the NSC erected 937 tents in flood affected areas in towns and the interior areas in Kelantan last month, including 800 in Gua Musang, Kuala Krai and Tanah Merah.
The NSC had also installed 70 tents in Orang Asli villages in the interior, he added.
