The number of people evacuated from flood-affected areas in Sarawak rose to 58 as at 8.30 am today, up from 48 as of last night, according to a spokesman of the Sarawak National Security Council.
He said the 58 people from 14 families were being housed at two evacuation centres, at the Beluru community hall in Bakong, Miri (30 people from six families), and at the Sebauh community hall in Bintulu (28 people from eight families).
A spokesman of the Beluru sub-district flood operations room, Ricky Bayang, said the situation in flood-affected areas in Bakong was expected to improve as the level of the Bakong River was dropping.
