Thailand's Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha has directed Thai military forces in southern Thailand to assist flood victims in Kelantan.
Fourth Division Military commander Lt Gen Prakarn Chollayuth said Gen Prayuth had directed government agencies there to work closely with the residents to assist flood victims, including in the state of Kelantan in Malaysia.
The Fourth Division Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) would begin receiving essential items and equipment to build houses and repair damaged vehicles from today, he told a news conference, Tuesday.
For a start, he said, they planned to bring the donations to the three areas in Kelantan, namely Tumpat, Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah this January 17-18.
Residents wishing to make contributions can liase with the co-ordinating centre located at the Governor's Office in the Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Songkla provinces.
Last month, southern Thailand was also affected by floods in the provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat.
