Some 45 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed after eating what is believed to be a meal laced with poison during the breaking of fast.
145 militants had sat for the ‘iftar’ meal in Mosul, Iraq but only 100 of them walked away alive, Fox News reported.
According to a Kurdish Democratic Party spokesman, it is unclear whether they were deliberately poisoned or suffered from food poisoning.
This is not the first time an incident such as this has happened. In November last year, revolutionary fighters had infiltrated an IS camp by posing as cooks and poisoned their food.
The Times of Iraq reported, dozens of IS militants were killed following the incident at Fath El-Sahel camp which housed 1,200 militants.
Mosul is located on the border with Iraq and Syria with a population of over 1 million people. The city was captured by IS militants in June last year.
