SAO PAULO: The Brazilian government announced on Tuesday the return of 81 Brazilian citizens deported from the United States (US), bringing the total number of repatriates from the US in 2025 to more than 3,000 amid US President Donald Trump's tightening immigration policy, Xinhua reported.
The Brazilian Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship said in a statement that after the 81 people landed in Brazil late Monday, part of the group was transferred to a hotel equipped with special assistance facilities, where the repatriated migrants received meals, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, medical and psychological care, as well as guidance and assistance for travel to their home cities.
The operation is part of the inter-ministerial programme "Here Is Brazil," which aims to ensure greater calm and efficiency in the assistance process.
Since the start of 2025, the programme has carried out 36 operations, enabling the return of more than 3,000 Brazilian nationals from the US, according to the ministry.
