BLACKBURN: People from across the U.K. paid their respects and offered tributes on Saturday, to mark the funeral of Prince Philip.
Many watched the ceremony of the Duke of Edinburgh's service, which was broadcasted live on television.
British broadcaster Sky News spoke to Sandra Elmer in her Blackburn home, who lost her brother to COVID-19.
Elmer said the televised ceremony offered comfort after not being able to have a funeral service for her relative due to coronavirus restrictions.
"I think there will be a lot of people thinking, that's my goodbye," Elmer said.
Bells were rung from Blackburn Cathedral to invite locals to light a candle for the duke, and ten doves were released nearby in his remembrance.
One week after lockdown measures were eased, the Duke of Edinburgh pub near Windsor Castle was open for patrons to raise a toast for Philip.
