BEIJING: China urges the United States to correct its wrongful imposition of unilateral tariffs, a Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokeswoman said on Thursday, in commenting the latest U.S. Court of International Trade's decision to block President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs.

- A US court ruled Trump's sweeping tariffs illegal and ordered their revocation.
- China criticised the tariffs as harmful to global trade and ineffective for the US.
- China called on the US to fully abandon unilateral tariff hikes.
The U.S. Court of International Trade on Wednesday ruled that Trump overstepped his authority to impose sweeping tariffs that have raised the cost of imports for everyone from giant businesses to everyday Americans.
"The Chinese side has noticed that on May 28, local time, the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled that Trump's global tariffs, retaliatory tariffs and fentanyl tariffs were illegal, and demanded their revocation and permanent suspension. China has always maintained that there is no winner in a trade war, and that protectionism offers no solution," He Yongqian, the spokeswoman, said at a press conference in Beijing in response.
"Since the U.S. imposition of the unilateral tariff measures, it has not resolved any of its own issues and has instead severely undermined the international economic and trade order, and seriously interfered with enterprises' production and operation and people's life and consumption, benefiting no one at all," she said.
"The tariffs imposition has also triggered significant opposition domestically. China urges the U.S. to heed the rational voices of the international community and domestic parties and completely revoke the wrong approach of unilateral tariff hikes," said the spokeswoman.
