COVID-19: 2,719 new positive cases in Indonesia

Indonesia has recorded 2,719 COVID-19 new positive cases within a period of 24 hours, the highest recorded since the first case was detected last March 2.
Based on its government’s official website on COVID-19, www.covid19.go.id today, the total number of cases has now risen to 162,884, while the total number of deaths from the viral infection has reached 7,064.
Between noon yesterday and noon today, 120 more deaths were reported in the republic.
Within that period, Jakarta recorded the highest number of positive cases at 760, bringing the tally to 36,213, and 11 more deaths.
This is followed by East Java Province at 31,696 and the other 32 provinces.
East Java has the highest number of deaths so far at 2,282 followed by Jakarta (1,146), Central Java (937), South Sulawesi (356) and the other ;provinces.
