COVID-19: Thailand reports four new cases, no deaths

Thailand has reported four new COVID-19 cases involving its citizens returning from abroad and no new deaths over the last 24 hours, bringing the tally to 3,081 with 57 fatalities.

Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) assistant spokeswoman, Dr Panprapa Yongtrakul said the new patients, aged between 18 and 37, have arrived in Thailand from the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, and currently undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine at state facilities.

She said the new patients include a 22-year-old male student who arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Saudi Arabia and boarded a bus to Narathiwat through Padang Besar checkpoint.

"Of 3,081 confirmed cases, a total of 144 cases detected at the quarantine facilities," she said at COVID-19 daily briefing here today.

To date, a total of 2,963 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals and 61 were still undergoing treatment.

Starting tomorrow, Thailand will further ease restrictions by reopening more businesses including spas and massage parlours, cinemas, theaters and zoos with strict health precautionary measures in place to prevent another outbreak.

Apart from that, the curfew hours will also be shortened by one hour to last from 11 pm to 3 am.
