ISTANBUL: Package carrier DHL has suspended deliveries of shipments valued over US$800 to private customers in the United States (US), citing new customs rules introduced under US President Donald Trump's higher tariffs, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
The global logistics firm said the recent change in US customs regulations, which requires formal entry processing for shipments exceeding US$800, has significantly increased red tape and caused "multi-day delays" in deliveries.
To manage the added paperwork, DHL said it is suspending business-to-consumer shipments exceeding the US$800 threshold to individuals in the US starting Monday, "until further notice."
Business-to-business shipments exceeding US$800 will continue, but may still face delays, the company added.
The Trump administration rule change, enacted on April 5, lowered the threshold for package entry with minimal paperwork from US$2,500 to US$800.
As a result, goods valued above the new limit now require additional documentation and customs checks, slowing processing times across the board.
