Earthquake hits Halmahera, Indonesia

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Halmahera, Indonesia at 7.54am today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement said the earthquake's location was 33km north of Ternate, Indonesia and 1,054km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.

However, no tsunami threat was reported.
