Flight operation at T2 Changi Airport will resume progressively

"Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has given the all clear for T2 and flight operations will resume progressively. This will begin with some arriving flights," Changi Airport updated on Facebook.

"Meeters and greeters are advised to check our website or iChangi app for the specific flight details,"it said.

Changi Airport had advised passengers on flights departing from T2 to expect significant delays as the fire broke out at the terminal's departure hall.

"In the interest of ensuring safety, T2 remains closed. All departing and arriving flights at T2 will be moved to T3 until further notice," it said in earlier update.

Changi Airport said flight information was being updated and passengers should check the flight information screens in the terminal and on the Changi Airport website for check-in row, departure gate and baggage belt details.

"We have identified the cause of the fire. Situation is under control. Flight ops at T2 are affected," it said.

"We will advise when operations resume," it said.

Changi Airport said the fire alarm was activated at the terminal about 5.40pm due to smoke coming through the air vents.

"Evacuation of the terminal was initiated and the Changi Airport Emergency Service team is on site," it said.

Meanwhile, SDCF confirmed a small fire occurred in Changi Airport Terminal 2.

"The fire has been extinguished by SCDF using a hosereel jet," it said in its update on Facebook.

It added that it sent two people to hospital for smoke inhalation.
