Four people including an infant were killed when monsoon-induced landslide swept away five sheds in a slum area in eastern hilly resort town of Jiri, about 200 kilometer east of Kathmandu, before dawn on Saturday.
The four killed have been identified as five year old Sujal Jirel, Susma Jirel-14, Pema Doma Tamang-25 and Tara Tamang, said deputy superintendent of police Suresh Kafle.
One person whose name is Juna Tamang is missing. Police has mounted search for the missing girl.
Seven people were injured, of which three are serious, police said. The injured are undergoing treatment in local hospital in Jiri.
Jiri is a hill station known as Nepal’s Zurich as it was built with Swiss cooperation in early 1970s.
This is a fresh landslide caused death as more than 175 have already been killed in landslides this year in different parts of Nepal since the monsoon season began in late June.
Only last week a heavy landslide occurred in Sindhupalchok district close to Jiri in which 156 people were killed.
