Indonesia election quick count survey shows PDI-P in the lead

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is leading the 11 other contesting parties in the Indonesian Parliamentary Election 2014, according to a quick count survey.

The results of the survey conducted by Antara News Agency with cooperation from the Indonesian Republic Radio, showed that PDI-P, under the leadership of former Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri, had garnered 17.13 percent of the votes.

The Golongan Karya (Golkar) party was at second place with 15.51 percent, while Gerakan Indonesia Raya (Gerindra) at third place with 10.05 percent.

The Democrat Party led by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was trailing at fourth place with 9.62 per cent, followed closely by Parti Kebangkitan Nasional (nine per cent), Parti Persatuan Pembangunan (8.15 percent).

Parti Amanat Nasional (7.53 percent), Parti Nasional Demokrat (6.93 percent), Parti Keadilan Sejahtera (6.84 percent) and Parti Hati Nurani Rakyat (6.72 percent).

The remaining two parties with the lowest percentage of votes were Parti Bulan Bintang with 1.36 percent and Parti Keadilan dan Persatuan Indonesia (1.15 percent).

The result of another quick count survey as reported in the Kompas daily also showed that PDI-P had taken the lead with 18.34 percent of the votes, followed by Golkar (17.42) and Gerindra (12.72).
