Indonesian beauty queen dies in traffic accident

Miss Jakarta 2004, Rizka Ismalia Putri Iskandar died in a road accident on the Kamal toll road in north Jakarta on Thursday.

City Police Head of the accident section in the subdirectorate of law enforcement, Miyanto said Rizka, 31, and her husband, Aldico Juniarto were on their way to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport by taxi to catch a flight to Malaysia.

"The taxi driver allegedly lost concentration and lost control of the vehicle," he was quoted as saying by Kompas.com on Thursday.

He said the taxi hit a truck that was parked on the side of the road, then a CRV Honda before crashing into a concrete roadblock.

Aldico and taxi driver, Eko Yulianto survived the accident and were rushed to Atmajaya Hospital in Pluit.

A doctor from Atmajaya Hospital, Andri P, said Eko was being treated for a serious spinal cord injury.
