Iran holds military drill in key oil strait ahead of talks with US, local media report

IRAN'S Revolutionary Guards navy held a drill in the Hormuz Strait on Monday (February 16), the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported, a day prior to renewed Iran-U.S. nuclear negotiations.

Footage showed senior Iranian military officials overseeing the drills with numerous strikes causing large explosions.

Reuters could not independently verify the exact locations and date the video material was filmed.

The drill, named "Smart Control of Hormuz Strait", aimed at testing the readiness of operational forces in the face of "possible security and military threats", Tasnim reported.
