THE Iranian media reported on Thursday that the traffic capacity in the Strait of Hormuz has reached about 50 percent of the pre-war level, while the U.S.-led Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) puts the maritime security threat level in the strategic waterway at severe.

Citing an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) statement, Iranian state broadcaster IRIB said Iran has been gradually reopening the strait over the past two weeks.

It said that vessels are required to comply with Iran's safety regulations, follow designated routes, and obtain permission from the IRGC Navy.

The statement warned that foreign forces have no right to interfere in matters concerning the strait, and that any U.S. intervention in shipping routes would be met with a forceful response.

Also on Thursday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued a notice from the JMIC, saying that the maritime security threat level in the Strait of Hormuz remains severe.

JMIC is a multinational naval advisory body, and UKMTO serves as one of its core information-sharing partners.
