KUALA LUMPUR: Iran has targeted 14 United States (US) military bases in the region since the US–Israeli aggression against the country, according to an Iranian military spokesman.
Speaking in a televised interview late on Friday, the spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, said many US military bases in the region had been completely destroyed and would take at least five years to be rebuilt.

Turning to the presence of US and Israeli ships in the region, Shekarchi said vessels belonging to the US and Israel would be targeted by Iranian armed forces if they attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
“All ships are allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz except those belonging to the US and Israel,” the spokesman said, Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported.
Emphasising the need for cooperation among regional countries in confronting external threats, Shekarchi said the US and Israel had initiated the war against Iran, bringing insecurity to countries across the region.
He called on regional countries to work together to expel US military bases from the region.
In his remarks, Shekarchi criticised US strategies in the Middle East, saying Washington was pursuing a dangerous policy that fuels conflict in the region.
The presence of the US in the Middle East creates insecurity for all nations in the region, he added.
On Feb 28, the US and Israel launched attacks on several locations across Iran, including the capital, Tehran. In response to the attacks, Iranian forces launched strikes on four US military bases in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
