Joko Widodo announces Cabinet reshuffle
Nine ministerial posts were reshuffled and repositioned, such as ministries of finance, trade, transport, energy, security law and political affairs, and education, President Widodo said.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo announced his second cabinet reshuffle at the State Palace on Wednesday as he aims to speed up economic growth and get more support from political parties, China's Xinhua news agency reported.
Most of the reshuffle was conducted on economic posts as the government is gearing up a huge influx of capital repatriation and aims at accelerating the implementation of massive economic stimulus packages.
Nine ministerial posts were reshuffled and repositioned, such as ministries of finance, trade, transport, energy, security law and political affairs, and education, President Widodo said.
World Bank Managing Director Sri Mulyani Indrawati was appointed as the new Finance Minister.
Previously, Sri Mulyani served as the country's Finance Minister under former president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Retired general Wiranto, chairman of the peoples conscience party (Hanura) was elected as security chief minister, replacing Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan of Golkar Party, he said.
Luhut is appointed as coordinating minister for maritime, the president added.
