KP1M distributes 5,000 food packages in Gaza
Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said aid from Malaysians were first distributed in Khan Younis.
A total of 5,000 food packages were distributed in several areas soon after three representatives of Kelab Putera 1Malaysia (KP1M) entered Gaza yesterday.
The two representatives allowed into Gaza via Rafah border crossing were the Malaysian ambassador to Egypt and Palestine, Datuk Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari and the Palestinian ambassador to Malaysia, Dr Anwar al-Agha.
KP1M president Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said aid from Malaysians were first distributed in Khan Younis, aided by representatives of the Palestinian government and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The humanitarian aid mission to distribute food to at least 25,000 Palestinians would continue as planned.
"It is still safe for us to move around," Abdul Azeez told media people who are accompanying the humanitarian aid mission, here today.
Some 78 volunteers were not allowed to continue with their journey to Rafah on security reasons and were ordered to return to Cairo.
The order was issued by commander of the military command post in Qantara, near the Suez Canal, after the convoy was stuck for five hours and discussions were held.
However, after travelling for one hour from Qantara, the three representatives had to stop and spend the night in Al-Arish on the same day as shooting incidents were reported.
The mission, which is also participated by members from Mercy Malaysia and the Malaysian Islamic Organisations' Consultative Council, also plans to deliver medical aid to victims of the Israeli attacks.
It was reported that about 2,000 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli attacks on Gaza since July 8.
