Lee Kuan Yew hospitalised since Sunday
Former Singapore Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew is still undergoing treatment at the Singapore General Hospital and could not attend a Chinese New Year dinner with voters in Tanjong Pagar, the Singapore media reported. Lee, 90, has been hospitalised since Sunday for fever and cough due to infection. "He has been advised by doctors to avoid any public event. Hence, he was unable to attend the GRC Chinese New Year dinner in Tanjong Pagar. "He expressed his Chinese New Year wishes to the Tanjong Pagar and Singapore people," said his press secretary as quoted by The Straits Times. Media reports also said Kuan Yew is recovering and undergoing an antibiotic treatment. This is the second year in a row Kuan Yew could not attend the annual dinner because of his health problems. Kuan Yew served as Singapore's prime minister from 1959 till 1990. After his retirement, he was appointed as the Senior Minister between 1990 and 2004 before the post was renamed as Minister Mentor, a post he held until 2011.
